Best Time to Travel to Mauritius

January through to April is optimum time for Mauritius holidays, as the weather is hot with temperatures averaging between 25C and 30C. There is the very slim chance of cyclones happening at this time of year but this should in no way affect your decision to visit this beautiful country.

The cooler months take place between July and September with temperatures falling below 25C; still particularly warm! With very little variation between temperature, Mauritius holidays are great all year round. However, surfers find June, July and August to be the best, whilst divers consider the conditions between September and March to be ideal.

Things to Do in Mauritius

  • Grand Bassin

Situated high up in the mountains, the Grand Bassin marks the most sacred Hindu place on the island. Mauritius holidays offer the opportunity to explore the temple dedicated to Shiva which is located here and is believed to be filled with holy water stemming from the River Ganges.

  • Chamarel Waterfall

At 100m high, this is Mauritius’ highest waterfall and a stunning spot of natural beauty. The scenery surrounding the falls makes it perfect for photography opportunities as well as relaxing and enjoying the breathtaking views. Whilst in the area, you can also visit ‘Seven Coloured Earth’, which consists of multi-coloured sand dunes created by volcanic rocks.

  • Skydive

Mauritius holidays don’t have to mean lazy beach holidays; they can also spell out adventure. If you are the more adventurous type, try skydiving on this beautiful island where you will be able to experience the stunning landscapes from above.

  • Champ de Mars in Port Louis

Suit up and head to the Champ de Mars in Port Louis where you can wine and dine with Mauritius’ socialites at the races. The racecourse itself is the oldest in the southern hemisphere and makes for a memorable day out during your Mauritius holidays. Whilst there you can enjoy delicious canapés and drinks and, if you’re feeling lucky, have a flutter on the horses. Don’t worry if you aren’t a gambling enthusiast – the atmosphere is great, even if just for the people-watching opportunities!
